Treatment for refugees

Many refugees have experienced traumatic events in their home countries. We offer a short-term intervention aimed at assisting people who feel they are not coping with their stress reactions.

To be eligible for this treatment program you must be a refugee with permanent residency or Australian citizenship, who is experiencing distress related to refugee trauma.

The treatment involves weekly sessions with a clinical psychologist (and interpreter if required). It teaches skills to reduce posttraumatic stress reactions.

The treatment does not involve case management, assistance with visas, housing or financial difficulties.

Understanding the experiences of refugees

We would like to invite refugees and asylum seekers who have experienced trauma to participate in projects aimed at gaining a better understanding of refugee experiences.

These projects will help us to improve the treatment of traumatic stress reactions among refugees.

Participation in these projects is open to all refugees and asylum seekers– including non-permanent visa holders.

We will compensate you for your time.
