Treatment for Recent TraumaThis program offers a specialised individual treatment for people who have recently experienced a traumatic event and are experiencing posttraumatic stress reactions (known as Acute Stress Disorder, ASD). To be eligible for this treatment program the trauma that preceded your experience of these symptoms must have occurred within the last month. As with our other treatment programs, the early intervention program is based on Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. Many international studies indicate that providing this form of therapy to people shortly after suffering a trauma can prevent PTSD from developing. We encourage people to contact as soon as possible so that this early intervention can be provided to avoid later problems from developing. Treatment involves 5 weekly sessions, each lasting approximately 1 ½ hours duration. More information about ASD can be found here. |
